Amid reports that airport taxi fares skyrocketed in Europe this past year — with fares rising by as much as 10% — it can be revealed that Gatwick Airport, UK is one of the best value for money airports for spring travel, with an overall value for money score of 7.28/10.
With affordable taxi fares from the airport to central city locations and the low cost of airport lounges, Gatwick Airport is an excellent choice for those looking to get the most out of their spring travels without breaking the bank.
That’s according to a study from BesteOnlineCasinos.com, which reveals the airports in Europe that are the best value for money. To do this, the experts created a points-based index system evaluating the cost of airport parking, taxi fares from the airport to central city locations, airport lounge prices and the value of nearby restaurants at 20 airports.
Munich Airport
Munich Airport is the best value airport in Europe for spring travel, with an overall value for money score of 7.28/10. Travellers will pay just €1.62 per km in taxi fares from the airport to central city locations, which is 62% cheaper per km than Düsseldorf Airport (€4.32). Munich Airport is the only European airport in the value for money index with a restaurant value rating higher than 4, with an average rating of 4.05/5. This is almost 5% higher than eateries near Berlin Brandenburg Airport, with an average rating of 3.86/5.
In second place is Düsseldorf International Airport, Germany, scoring 6.14/10 in the value for money index. The airport has the most affordable airport lounge of all airports analysed in Europe (€27.50) — which includes complimentary drinks and snacks — almost half (43%) of the cost of the Priority Lounge in Frankfurt Airport (€49.00). The typical daily parking rate at Düsseldorf Airport is €9.29, which is the fourth-cheapest rate in the ranking, and is 40% cheaper than the cost of parking per day at Munich International Airport (€15.71).
Ranking third is London Gatwick Airport, UK, scoring 5.28/10. Taxi fares from the airport to central city locations are just €1.94 per km on average, the third most affordable in the index, 55% cheaper than typical fares from Düsseldorf Airport (€9.29). Gatwick Airport also has a low daily parking rate in comparison to other airports in Europe, at just €9.19 per day, which is over two-fifths cheaper than the rate at Frankfurt Airport (€16.34).
