Flyvbird to launch flights in 2025 following first demonstration

On-demand airline flyvbird is poised to commence operations in 2025 following the successful first demonstration of its services at Germany’s Freidrichshafen airport.
In partnership with regional companies, flyvbird will begin scheduled on-demand flights from Friedrichshafen – intended to “redefine air travel in underserved regions” – from early May. Initial bookings are expected to open later this year.
Unlike other services, flyvbird’s business model aims to connect decentralised airports through the adoption of an algorithm-based booking site, previously described by the company as “a paradigm shift in accessibility, speed and convenience”. This solution is intended to “[elevate] customer experience to new heights by providing an airline-standard service as effortless as hailing a taxi”.
During the demonstration flights, around 30 guests took a nine-seater Tecnam P2012 (belonging to partner Alpen Air) on trips over Lake Constance. Managing director of Friedrichshafen airport Claus-Dieter Wehr stated: “The economically strong Lake Constance region, the mobility needs of the economy and Lake Constance Airport offer flyvbird ideal conditions for the start”.
“With our extensive experience leading several airlines, I am thrilled to spearhead this visionary leap,” commented flyvbird’s main shareholder and founder, Tomislang Lang. As former CEO of SkyWork Airlines (which operated scheduled European services as well as additional charter options), Lang believes this new model will create a “flexible, sustainable, and customer-driven future in air travel”.
