Following the amendment to the UK Government’s Aviation Security Regulations on 1 June Farnborough Airport, the home of British aviation and Europe’s leading airport for premium air travel connectivity, has today announced the completion of its £3 million security screening upgrade. This significant investment includes the installation of two state-of-the-art cabin baggage screening lanes equipped with the latest C3 screening technology along with advanced security scanners.

The C3 screening technology, the highest-rated aviation security equipment currently available, will further enhance the world-class passenger experience offered at Farnborough Airport. For baggage screening, passengers are now able to leave large electronic items, such as laptops, tablets, and phones, in their cabin baggage. Additionally, passengers can carry liquids in excess of 100ml, up to 2 litres, through security without removing them from their bags. This advance significantly streamlines the security process, reducing the need for multiple trays and repacking, resulting in a more efficient passenger journey through the airport. For passenger screening, the introduction of modern security scanners, replacing traditional metal detectors, ensures the highest levels of security in a non-intrusive manner. This innovative technology alongside Farnborough Airport’s already world-class service further reinforces the airport’s commitment to providing the highest standards in customer care.

Simon Geere, CEO at Farnborough Airport, said: “The completion of our £3 million security screening upgrade marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to delivering an unparalleled passenger experience and one that meets the evolving needs of our customers. Installing state-of-the-art security technology is a testament to the Airport’s continuous efforts to take a leading role in driving both service and security standards. Our passengers can now enjoy a faster, smoother, and more convenient journey through our airport, knowing they are benefitting from the highest levels of security and assurance.”Subscribe to the FINN weekly newsletter
