Enter Air Services, a subsidiary of Poland’s largest private charter airline, Enter Air, has opened its first domestic aircraft maintenance base at Katowice Airport.

The airline has agreed a 10-year hangar lease at the regional airport employing around 100 aviation mechanics. The hangar can accommodate up to two Boeing 737-sized aircraft, providing cost-efficient heavy maintenance for its 30-aircraft fleet.

Enter Air already has a smaller maintenance facility at Debrecen in Hungary and operates five line-maintenance stations across Poland.

According to a report on Polish news portal, Wnp, Enter Air’s vice president of commercial affairs, Andrzej Kobielski, said the investment at Katowice means the airline will no longer have to fly all over Europe to service its fleet. “It’s pure savings,” he told the news outlet.

Accounting for more than 33% of the charter traffic at Katowice and over 16% of total traffic, Enter Air has 10 aircraft based at the regional air transport hub. Artur Tomasik president of Katowice Airport told Wnp he sees Enter Air’s role at the airport expanding further now it is servicing aircraft there.

Having exceeded six million passengers in 2024, Katowice Airport is also planning further expansion as part of a PLN 1.5 billion investment through 2032. The airport, which has the most developed infrastructure for aircraft maintenance among Poland’s 13 regional airports, aims to improve passenger, technical and cargo services with its expansion plans including a fourth MRO hangar for low-cost carrier Wizz Air.
