Cranfield Aerospace Solutions (CAeS) has welcomed The Duchess of Edinburgh to its facilities in Bedfordshire.

During her visit, Her Royal Highness received insights into CAeS’ work on Project Fresson, the development of a scalable hydrogen fuel cell drivetrain that can be adapted to multiple aerospace applications, starting with the conversion of an existing aircraft, the Britten Norman Islander with a target for entry into passenger carrying service in 2027.

The Duchess was introduced to members of the CAeS team, including Titilope Aigoro (Head of Airworthiness), Nathan James (Chief Structural & Mechanical Design Engineer), and Tom Pratt (Senior Air Vehicle Design Engineer) to learn more about the critical roles they play in our technology development.

The Duchess of Edinburgh also presented our monthly ‘Extra Mile’ awards, which recognise those team members who have gone above and beyond to help the company achieve its goals.

The Duchess was received by the Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Susan Lousada, and distinguished local officials, including Chief Constable Trevor Rodenhurst, Chief Fire Officer Andrew Hopkinson, Marcel Coiffait, Chief Executive of Central Bedfordshire Council, and Karen Holford, Vice Chancellor of Cranfield University.

“We are immensely proud to showcase our achievements to Her Royal Highness and express our gratitude for her visit earlier today,” added Paul Hutton.
