Cessna SkyCourier receives Canadian type certification
January 6, 2025
Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) has become the latest regulator to certify Textron Aviation’s Cessna SkyCourier, expanding the aircraft’s ability to support operational activity in North America.
The region’s first unit, delivered as a freighter variant, will be delivered to flight service provider Air Bravo Corporation later this year – augmenting the single-engine Pilatus PC-12 already operated by the company.
“The SkyCourier’s outstanding performance will be a game-changer for our customers across Canada,” commented Textron Aviation, senior vice president of global sales and flight operations Lannie O’Bannion. “The maximum flexibility and low operating costs of this aircraft make it an excellent choice for a wide range of missions throughout the region”.
Powered by two wing-mounted P&W Canada PTG-A65SC turboprop engines, the SkyCourier has a maximum cruise speed of more than 200ktas and a 900 nm range. The freighter variant also features a flat-floor cabin sized to handle up to three LD3 shipping containers with a 6,000lbs payload capacity.
TCCA is the latest regulator to provide the platform with type certification, following the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP)’s award in August. Following the SkyCourier’s initial FAA certification in March 2024, it has also received Brazilian and Australian type certification.
