Bombardier is celebrating the entry-into-service of its Global 5550 long-range business jet.
A statement by Bombardier said the Global 5500 which was completed at its facility in Wichita, Kansas and had been delivered to an “unspecified customer.” The aircraft features three living areas and Bombardier’s patented Nuage seating collection.
Last year, Bombardier announced that the Global 5500 aircraft could fly 200 nautical miles more than planned, and its new range of 5,900 nautical miles was 700 nautical miles more than the nearest competitor at the same speed.
“Ultimate business tool”
David Coleal, President of Bombardier Aviation said: “This spacious and efficient aircraft is the ultimate business tool, with the range and access to safely take our customers where they need to be. The first Global 5500 aircraft delivery is of particular significance for our employees in Wichita, who recently took on the meticulous work of interior completions for the Global 5000 and Global 5500 aircraft.”
Bombardier’s Wichita site is the manufacturing centre for the Learjet. The site’s operations have been expanded over the years to include a service centre, Flight Test Center and Specialized Aircraft operations.
