Alaska Airlines will be celebrating Mardi Gras next year with the launch of a new nonstop flight from Portland to New Orleans.

The seasonal daily service will operate for four months in 2025, launching on 6 January and operating until 14 May.

Tickets will go on sale for the route on 19 June for the flight that will be operated on a Boeing 737.

Outbound flights will depart Portland at 9.05am, arriving New Orleans at 3.30pm with the return leg leaving at 4.35pm, touching down at 7.50pm.

Alaska Airlines vice president of revenue management and network planning Kirsten Amrine said: “As the largest carrier in Portland for more than 20 years, it’s important we continue to expand the nonstop destinations we offer our guests and give them choices when planning their next trip.

“We can’t wait to offer another convenient way to connect our guests along the West Coast to New Orleans, a city rich in history and culture.”

Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport director of aviation Kevin Dolliole added: “We are thrilled that Alaska Airlines is launching nonstop service from New Orleans to Portland.

“Portland has been the top unserved destination from New Orleans, and this new route not only strengthens the connection between our vibrant cities but also underscores our commitment to enhancing the travel experience for our community and visitors alike.”

New Orleans will be Alaska’s 55th nonstop destination from Portland International Airport when service begins in January.
