Airlines are either being cancelled or diverted from Gabon following the overthrow of President Ali Bongo and his elected government in a coup d’état.
Gabon’s self-styled military junta closed the nation’s borders, forcing the cancellation of all international flights as of August 29, 2023.
Turkish Airlines, Air France, Ethiopia Airlines, Air Côte d’Ivoire, and ASKY Airlines, have all either cancelled or diverted to Libreville, according to Flightradar24 ADS-B data.
Airspace
Additionally, Royal Air Maroc has stopped operating from Casablanca Mohamed V. Airlines have been given a backup plan by pan-African air navigation services provider ASECNA in case the airspace over the Central African state is shut off to all traffic.
