Airbus has updated its 2024 market guidance following new developments in its space and commercial aircraft divisions.

The aircraft manufacturer said its Space Systems management team conducted an extensive technical review of all programmes in the first half of 2024 and identified further commercial and technical challenges.

These are mainly related to updated assumptions on schedules, workload, sourcing, risks and costs over the lifetime of certain telecommunications, navigation and observation programmes.

As a result, Airbus has recorded charges of around € 900 million in the H1 2024 accounts.

Meanwhile, following persistent specific supply chain issues mainly in engines, aerostructures and cabin equipment Airbus now intends to deliver around 770 commercial aircraft in 2024.

It added it is also continuing to ramp up towards a rate of 75 A320 family aircraft per month, which is now expected in 2027.

These immediate changes to the 2024 guidance before M&A means that EBIT  has been adjusted to around €5.5 billion while free cash flow before customer financing is about €3.5 billion.
