AI-powered digital assistant lands at Aberdeen Airport

April 17, 2025

Aberdeen Airport has partnered with Hello Lamp Post to launch “Hello Aberdeen” – a digital assistant providing support and assistance for passengers.
The tool, which can be downloaded on a mobile device, delivers real-time, personalised assistance, helping passengers access vital information and navigate the terminal. It caters for all passengers, including those with accessibility needs and international travellers.
A trial of the tool at Glasgow Airport in 2024 showed a 50% reduction in queries being received by customer service staff and 86% satisfaction rate with services offered at the Scottish hub. Both Glasgow and Aberdeen are operated by AGS Airports, as is Southampton Airport, which also saw the deployment of an AI-powered assistant at the beginning of April.
Commenting on its deployment at Aberdeen, the airport’s managing director, Mark Beveridge said, “we hope it will further enhance the customer experience, ensuring a smoother and more personalised journey for all that pass through Aberdeen International Airport.”
Tiernan Mines, co-founder and CEO of Hello Lamp Post added that the launch of Hello Aberdeen will also help to free up staff at the airport so they can “focus on what matters most – ensuring passengers get the best support where it counts.”
With the ability to respond to questions about flight status, gate changes, baggage claims and airport amenities, AI-powered digital assistants are increasingly being rolled out at airports across the globe. Melbourne, Brussels, Bristol and Amsterdam Schiphol are among those airports that have rolled them out recently. Earlier this month Munich Airport teamed up with Lufthansa Innovation Hub to deploy service robots from startup company Ottonomy throughout its Terminal 2. Based in the gate areas and baggage reclaim zones of the terminal the robots have been tasked with assisting passengers with information and promoting Lufthansa’s services.
