40 Boeing 737 MAX 8s for Avia Solutions Group

Avia Solutions Group’s inaugural Boeing order – comprising 40 MAX 8s and options for a further 40 – is representative of an ongoing shift to airlines seeking to outsource capacity.

In a major boost to Boeing’s order book, Avia Solutions Group has signed a firm deal for 40 737 MAX 8s (with options for a further 40); its first direct order with the company and one the ACMI lessor believes marks a “clear phase of sustained growth”.

This significant order comes as the world’s largest ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance) provider envisages more and more airlines looking to complement capacity with outsourced ACMI options. “We have committed to a strategic approach of expanding our capacity to meet our customers’ seasonal needs, and our first order with Boeing is a key pillar of this,” explained Gediminas Ziemelis, chairman of Avia Solutions Group.

Powered by CFM International LEAP-1B engines and possessing a range of up to 3,500 nautical miles, the narrowbody MAX 8 can seat between 162 and 210 passengers. “By choosing the 737-8, Avia Solutions Group is aligning with its customers’ plans to operate increasingly fuel-efficient fleets that improve the passenger experience,” said Brad McMullen, Boeing senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing.

In the first half of 2024, European clients accounted for over 55% of the Avia Solutions Group’s revenue, followed by Asia at 27.8%. However, during the period, the group accounts 29% rise in revenue as an increase in passenger flight volumes, “especially from operations in Asia and Latin America” – with Brazil, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia noted as key markets for continued global expansion. However, the group also cautioned that its fleet – standing at 180 leased and 34 owned – “grew at a moderate rate due to a shortage of aircraft in the market”.
