BAA Training Signs with Volotea to Provide Job-Guaranteed MPL Pilot Training

BAA Training has signed an agreement with Spanish airline Volotea to deliver a tailored training programme, with the first group set to begin in February 2025.

The partnership aims to address the ongoing pilot shortage by preparing fully qualified pilots through a comprehensive, airline-specific training pathway. BAA Training anticipates training approximately 30 cadets annually as part of the new programme.

The Volotea Cadet Programme will offer a full Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL) curriculum focused on competency-based training.

Cadets will complete theoretical study, practical flight training on both single- and multi-engine aircraft, and full flight simulator sessions tailored to Volotea’s fleet.

A key feature of the programme is job security for graduates. Upon completion, cadets are directly prepared to assume First Officer roles with Volotea, eliminating the uncertainty of job prospects for newly trained pilots.

Training will be held across multiple BAA Training sites, with ground school instruction based in Vilnius, Lithuania, or Lleida-Alguaire, Spain, flight training at Lleida-Alguaire International Airport, and simulator sessions in Barcelona.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, with the right to live and work in the EU, and no prior aviation experience is necessary. Prospective cadets can apply through BAA Training’s website.

BAA Training is part of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider, operating a fleet of 214 aircraft and offering a range of aviation services across 68 countries.
