MRO Middle East has been taking place in Dubai this week showcasing the latest in maintenance and operations.

The show was, once again co-located with Aircraft Interiors Middle East (AIME) at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and was attended by representatives from airlines and business aviation operators looking to discover the latest new ideas for products and services in these sectors.

More than 5000 trade visitors came to the event to meet 330 exhibitors and attend the IFEC Seminars taking place on the show floor. On the opening day, HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chief Executive and Chairman of Emirates Airline & Group was given a tour of the exhibition.

Exhibitors displaying the latest innovations in interiors and MRO, included Sitaonair, Sanad Aerotech, Falcon Aviation and Anjou Aero. More than 70 airlines from 40 countries were represented at this year’s edition. Representatives from Lufthansa Technik, Rolls-Royce, Etihad Airways Engineering and Joramco were among the experts discussing the industry landscape at the MRO Middle East Summit.

The one-day conference focused on topics including 2020 MRO Forecast and Key Trends: Identifying New Opportunities; Strategies to Manage and Reduce Costs and An Ever-Changing Aftermarket Landscape. Case studies included Predictive Maintenance & Engine Health Monitoring from Rolls-Royce and Engineering: A Case Study About a Successful Partnership in the Region with representatives from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Applied Database Technology (ADT).

MTU Maintenance opens DXB Office

MTU Maintenance announced the opening of an office in close vicinity of Dubai International Airport (DXB). Although the company has maintained a presence in the region, the move will enable it to be closer to its customers. The new office opening for part of its global growth strategy and enables immediate proximity to the commercial engine maintenance and leasing scene in the region – and in turn, to meet their needs better and faster. This opening follows on from the recently opened MTU Maintenance Lease Services office in Singapore and Dublin.

MRO Caerdav to finalise multi-million pound investment

UK independent MRO Caerdav expects to finalise a multi-million-pound investment in the next few months which will lead to new facilities and training capabilities. The commitment from conglomerate MOBH Group of an undisclosed amount will help finance the creation of a centre of excellence for commercial aviation training at Wales’ Bro Tathan Business Park, which will provide pilot and cabin crew training, along with the construction of a new aircraft paint hangar. Once built, it will offer full paint services on aircraft up to the size of a Boeing 767.

Falcon Aviation awarded D1 approval for NDT

Falcon Aviation, one of the UAE’s leading business aviation services company, was awarded the D1 approval for Non-Destructive Testing, NDT, by three authorities, including the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, EASA, allowing the company to identify latent issues in customer aircraft and attend to them to the highest safety degree.

The approval has been granted by the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority, GCAA, the EASA, and Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation, GACA.

Etihad Engineering records growth for 2019

Etihad Engineering announced strong performance indicators for 2019, recording another year with positive record and strong potential for sustained growth in 2020.

The company provides maintenance services to Etihad Airways as well as third party aircraft providers from around the globe. This resilience in operations is supported an innovative approach which resulted in the servicing of a total of 356 aircraft in 2019, and more than 1.6 million manhours deployed. This reveals the facility’s vast capability to maintain and repair different types of aircraft, including the servicing of 196 Airbus and 160 Boeing aircraft.
