Dovetail Electric Aviation plans to convert aircraft such as the Textron King Air, Cessna Caravan, and DHC Twin Otter to electric propulsion thanks to a grant from the Australian government worth $2.1 million.
The Minister for Industry and Science, Ed Husic said Dovetail Electric Aviation is a great example of the high-value collaborative and industry-led research projects being supported under the CRC-P programme.
He said: “Electric aviation has the potential to be a game-changer for regional transport as Australia pushes to meet our emissions targets.”
Dovetails chief executive officer, David Doral added: This is a testament to the company’s dedication in driving innovation in the electric aviation industry and demonstrates the Australian government’s commitment to this burgeoning aviation sector.”
The pioneering electric aviation start-up is one of 19 receipts to receive funding under the Industry and Science Department’s Co-operative Research Centre Project Grant programme.
“We are honoured to be selected as one of the recipients of this highly competitive grant. This funding will allow us to continue to push the boundaries of electric aviation and bring our vision of a more sustainable future for the industry closer to reality,’ said Doral.
The grant will enable Dovetail Electric Aviation to continue pioneering the effort in the development of electric aircraft, helping to reduce emissions and improve the sustainability of the regional aviation industry.
