LATAM Airlines Group has announced a major fleet investment with Embraer, signing an agreement for up to 74 E195-E2 regional jets as part of its strategy to expand connectivity across South America.

The order comprises 24 firm deliveries and 50 purchase options, with the first aircraft set to arrive in the second half of 2026. Deliveries will initially support LATAM Airlines Brazil, with the possibility of allocation to other affiliates within the group at a later stage.

According to LATAM, the acquisition opens the opportunity to add as many as 35 new destinations to its current 160-strong network, significantly enhancing travel options within the continent. The firm order is valued at around $2.1 billion at list prices.

Profitable growth drives LATAM’s investment in regional jets

The move builds on four years of profitable expansion across the group’s domestic and regional operations. “Over the past four years, LATAM group has focused on expanding its domestic and regional network, creating the most comprehensive and seamless way of travelling within South America,” said Roberto Alvo, CEO of LATAM Airlines Group.

He added that the choice of aircraft was based on “the excellent economics and versatility of the Embraer E195-E2”, which would enable profitable growth by improving connectivity, opening new destinations, and supporting local economic and social development.

The group stressed that the investment is fully aligned with its financial policy, which includes maintaining healthy leverage and liquidity ratios. No changes to that policy are expected as a result of the deal.

For Embraer, the agreement represents a significant endorsement of its latest-generation regional jet. Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer, said: “The E195-E2 will allow LATAM affiliates to connect more destinations with the right capacity, while offering passengers superior comfort. We are extremely proud that the LATAM group has made the best choice to advance the region’s connectivity and for the future we will build together.”

Equipped with Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, the E195-E2 offers up to 30% lower fuel consumption per seat compared with previous-generation aircraft. Its 2-2 cabin configuration is expected to improve passenger comfort while delivering competitive seat costs.

The new Embraer jets will join LATAM’s fleet of 362 aircraft, which currently includes 283 Airbus narrowbodies, 56 Boeing widebodies, 20 Boeing freighters, and three Airbus widebodies on short-term lease.

Since 2021, LATAM has expanded its network from 129 to 160 destinations, a 24% increase. With the arrival of the E195-E2s, the airline group is positioning itself to continue that trajectory by adding new routes and reinforcing its leadership in South American connectivity.
