Embraer forms dedicated Global Leasing and Freighter team

March 10, 2025

Embraer has announced the formation of a dedicated Global Leasing and Freighter team, based in Amsterdam, which it says will “bring together expertise in E-Jet passenger to freighter conversions and commercial aviation leasing activities under one unified structure”.
Led by new senior vice president of Global Leasing and Freighter Oliver Gerg, “this strategic realignment underscores Embraer’s commitment to innovation and customer focus, positioning the company to meet the evolving needs of the global aviation market,” explained Embraer. CCO Embraer Commercial Aviation Martyn Holmes elaborated that the creation of the new team “is a critical step… to capitalise on opportunities in the growing cargo and leasing markets”.
Launched in May 2022 to meet what Embraer terms “the changing demands of e-commerce and modern trade, which require fast deliveries and decentralised operations driving the demand for faster delivery of shipments to regional markets,” the E190F made its debut flight in April 2024. Since making its debut at Farnborough International Airshow in 2024, the aircraft is now certified for global operations, having received ANAC, FAA and finally EASA certification (the latter achieved in February 2025).
Converted E-Jets possess over 40% more cargo volume capacity than large cargo turboprops and up to 30% lower operating costs than larger narrowbodies, with Holmes noting last month that the E-Jet programme is already “a global success with a large footprint worldwide”.
In June last year, Embraer signed its inaugural customer for the E-Freighter with an undisclosed customer, with aircraft earmarked for conversion from 2024 to come from the customer’s existing E-Jet fleet. This follows an agreement in principle made in May 2024, by which Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) announced its intention to take up to 10 conversion slots for the E190F/E195F. These conversions will be performed at Embraer’s facilities in Brazil.
