United Express CRJ-550 suffers taxiway excursion in St Louis
A United Express regional jet carrying 27 passengers and crew experienced a taxiway excursion at St. Louis Lambert International Airport on Wednesday morning, coming to a stop on a grassy area.
The GoJet Airlines-operated aircraft had arrived from Washington Dulles International Airport and landed safely before veering off the paved taxiway just before 11 am, according to airport officials.
No injuries were reported, and passengers were transported to the terminal via airport buses.
While an official cause has yet to be determined, GoJet Airlines spokesperson Elizabeth Dray suggested icy taxiways were the likely reason behind the incident. “Weather conditions, specifically icy taxiways, were the probable cause,” she said in a statement reported by local media.
The aircraft has been taken out of service, with all scheduled flights reassigned to another plane. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the incident.
Operations at the airport remained unaffected.
