Marabu Airlines unveils enhanced online check-in system
Estonia-based low-cost carrier, Marabu Airlines, has collaborated with a trio of tech companies to launch ‘Cloud Shopper’. The online platform is expected to speed up check-in and boost revenue potential.
Marabu Airlines partnered with Ink Innovation, as well as AristanderAI and BridgerPay, to develop Cloud Shopper, which according to Diana Strauss, director of customer journey at Marabu Airlines, “has been designed rethink digital travel, giving passengers smoother choices at every touchpoint.”
Key features of the system include a user-friendly interface, AI-based dynamic pricing to adjust pricing for services such as seat selection, and integrated payment solutions.
For Marabu’s head of customer journey development, Johannes Haage, integrating different technologies to deliver was no mean feat, but the outcome was worth it with the overall aim being to “connect all touchpoints in the customer journey, leveraging data and technology to create a personalised travel experience,”
With phase one, which involved building the IT foundations and launching seat selection now complete, phase two, which will see the introduction of passenger focused upgrades, excess baggage handling and new payment methods, is still in progress. Phase three, which will be rolled out at a later date, will see Cloud Shopper transformed into a comprehensive retailing platform with the addition of pre-order meals options and other ancillary services.
The platform will also integrate passenger name records with plans for a future offer-order model, connecting every touchpoint of the flight from booking to post-flight services.
Underlining that ancillary revenues in addition to ticket sales are integral to an airline’s profit margins, Strauss concluded that with Cloud Shopper Marabu can offer customers additional choices from seat upgrades to meals and more. “These changes are for a better customer experience but also provide a valuable source of income for the airline,” she said.
