The Kingdom of Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has signed a contract with Leonardo to enhance air traffic control and radar systems at Bahrain International Airport.

The three-year project, running until early 2027, is designed to improve aviation safety, airspace efficiency, and regional navigation services at the airport in Manama.

The agreement includes the installation of Leonardo’s ATCR 33S NG primary surveillance radar and SIR S/I secondary surveillance radar.

These advanced systems will provide real-time, high-resolution monitoring of Bahrain’s airspace, significantly enhancing its air traffic management capabilities. Comprehensive in-service support and remote services will ensure long-term operational effectiveness.

Bahrain International Airport, a key hub in the Middle East, serves as a critical gateway for regional and international travel. With its modern facilities and growing passenger demand, the airport is a central pillar in Bahrain’s aviation strategy.

This radar upgrade underscores Bahrain’s commitment to advancing its role as a leader in Middle Eastern aviation, ensuring safety and efficiency while bolstering its technological infrastructure.

The partnership with Leonardo reflects Bahrain’s strategic investment in cutting-edge technology, reinforcing its position as a hub for safe, efficient, and innovative air travel in the region.
