Embraer Defence & Security is set to display its range of defence aircraft at the inaugural Korean Army International Defense Exhibition (KADEX), taking place from 2 to 6 October in Gyeryongdae, South Korea.

The highlight of Embraer’s presence at KADEX is its C-390 Millennium transport aircraft, which was selected in December 2023 for the Republic of Korea Air Force’s (ROKAF) Large Transport Aircraft (LTA) II contract.

The deal aims to equip the ROKAF with state-of-the-art military transport aircraft. The C-390 programme in South Korea is progressing, with local suppliers ASTK, EMK, and KENCOA already appointed. Embraer is also strengthening ties with Korea Aviation Engineering & Maintenance Service Ltd (KAEMS) to support the C-390 project.

“The Embraer team is honoured to be at the inaugural KADEX event,” said Bosco da Costa Junior, president and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security. “South Korea is an important market for us and we look forward to building stronger bonds with the local aerospace and defence industry.”

Globally, the C-390 has amassed over 14,000 flight hours and achieving a 93% mission capability rate. In addition to South Korea, the aircraft has been selected by several other nations, including the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Portugal, and Brazil.

Embraer’s participation in KADEX underscores its expanding presence in South Korea. Korean companies are already integral to Embraer’s global supply chain, particularly in the production of the E-Jets E2 commercial aircraft family.

The company’s partnership with the South Korean aerospace and defence industries is expected to strengthen further with the C-390 programme.
