TAAG receives first A220
TAAG Angola Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A220, becoming the latest in a string of African carriers to operate the latest-generation regional aircraft.
The aircraft seats 137 passengers (12 in business class and 125 in economy class), and is painted with the airline’s new livery.
TAAG is implementing a strategic plan to increase its fleet size and add new routes to capture more intra-African traffic and improve regional connectivity.
The airline has recently added new frequencies to “high-demand” destinations, namely Cape Town, São Tomé Island and Brazzaville in the Republic of Congo.
The current TAAG fleet includes Dash 8-400s and Boeing 737s and 777s. It is also expecting delivery of four Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
Air Senegal and Air Tanzania are among the African airlines operating the A220. Globally, around 30 customers have ordered more than 910 A220 aircraft, and around 355 A220s are currently flying.
