Igor Panshin, Deputy CEO, Sales & Planning, S7 Technics, talks to FINN about S7 Technics’ fast expansion in Russia and its specialism in end-of-lease aircraft.

Earlier this year, S7 Technics, Russia’s largest independent maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services provider, launched a new line station at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport. Three other line maintenance stations are run by S7 Technics’ other subsidiary, Novosibirsk’s Tolmachevo-based Sibir Technic. They are located at the large airports of Siberia and the Far East region, at Irkutsk, Yakutsk and Vladivostok. Sheremetyevo is the fourth MRO location for S7 Technics and the first in the European region of Russia.

The company also has an engine MRO facility in Moscow and a second one opening soon in the south of Russia, to carry out complex work on aircraft returns.

“It’s an addition to this valuable product so that we can do everything in one location now,” Panshin said.

End-of-lease aircraft

S7 Technics is developing a specialism in end-of-lease aircraft.

Panshin said: “It’s a very specific business. It’s not so easy as regular C checks or D checks. It involves more parties and more knowledge of the desired results for all the parties. MRO is always in between the owner of the aircraft, the operator of the aircraft and the next lessee of the aeroplane. Specialist experience is required for that. But we’re happy to support our customers, especially with these services that are new for Russia. We were the first ones to step into this complicated area, and we like it.”
