The Airbus A350 is not just a widebody, it’s an extra widebody and a plane which has become hugely popular with passengers. But what’s it like to fly as a pilot? We talked to experimental test pilot, Frank Chapman, to find out.
Chapman previously flew for the A380.
He said: “When we finished the 380 programme, we went to the airlines that were operating the aircraft and said: What do you like about it, what do you think we should improve, where do you think we should go with a new cockpit? They came back with their feedback, we had our ideas, and we put all that together and started looking around at technology that was available at the time.”
He explained: “We wanted the large screens, we wanted more interactivity, better connectivity with ground operations, an easier cockpit to use from the pilot’s perspective.”
Watch the full interview with Frank Chapman to find out more about these advances and his role in the programme.
