Giancarlo Buono
Giancarlo Buono is Group Director of Safety and Airspace Regulation at the UK Civil Aviation Authority and a member of the CAA Executive Board. He leads the organisation’s safety and airspace regulatory functions, overseeing the regulatory framework supporting the future of UK aviation. Before joining the CAA, Giancarlo was Regional Director of Safety and Flight Operations at IATA, working closely with European regulators, the European Commission and EASA. A qualified Airbus A320 captain with 36 years’ experience across military and commercial aviation, he is also a visiting professor at City St George’s, University of London, and the University of Messina.
