Supernal has unveiled its full-scale eVTOL concept, the S-A2, at Farnborough International Airshow; allowing industry and visitors to see the craft they could be booking commercial flights on as soon as 2028.

“We are eager to share Supernal’s latest product milestone – our eVTOL product concept – with the aviation industry,” commented Jaiwon Shin, president of Hyandai Group (Supernal’s parent company) and CEO of Supernal. “With our ‘right product, right market at the right time’ philosophy, S-A2 embodies critical work Supernal is conducting with fleet operators, suppliers, governments and Hyundai Motor Group to ensure Advanced Air Mobility becomes a safe, economically viable and widespread mode of transportation in the coming decades”.

After initiating prototype testing of its S-A2 in 2025, Supernal hopes to begin flying its full-scale technology demonstrator; informing its prototype vehicle by “helping to mature and validate vehicle systems, optimise supply chain processes and solidify internal testing protocols”. With GKN Aerospace having delivered the full composite wing assembly for the full-scale demonstrator, the booms will follow shortly.

Supernal chief technology officer David McBride described 2024 as a “pivotal year for Supernal’s eVTOL development, marking the transition from engineering design to the build and execution phases”.
