Fatal shooting at Toronto Pearson is “isolated incident”

April 24, 2025

A fatal shooting at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada has seen a heavy police presence at the airport this morning.
Reports suggest that during an incident involving police officers, a 30-year-old man was shot dead just outside the departures area of Terminal 1 at Toronto Pearson on Thursday morning.
Police officers were called to the departures area at around 7am local time after reports of a distressed man in an SUV, who was reportedly carrying a firearm. Three officers then discharged their weapons and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Peel Police said it was “an isolated incident and there are no known threats to public safety.”
Commenting on X, the airport said the police investigation outside the Terminal 1 departures area would cause a shift in traffic with passengers and vehicles being rerouted to enter and exit through T1 arrivals. However, flights are expected to operate as normal, despite CP24 reporting that the departures board at Pearson showed a number of delays for early-morning flights.
