Canadian investigators issue Delta crash update

February 19, 2025

Canadian investigators who launched a probe after a Delta Connection CRJ900 regional jet flipped while landing at Toronto Pearson Airport have sent the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder to a lab for further analysis.
The crash, which took place on Monday, left 21 people injured.
Officials from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) confirmed that the aircraft’s black boxes have been sent for laboratory analysis to determine the cause of the accident. The TSB currently has 20 investigators on-site examining the wreckage.
The aircraft, operated by Delta’s regional partner Endeavor Air, had been flying from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport with 80 people on board.
Authorities say it is too early to determine what led to the crash.
“Our most pressing priority remains taking care of all customers and Endeavor crew members who were involved,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian.
“We’ll do everything we can to support them and their families in the days ahead, and I know the hearts, thoughts and prayers of the entire Delta community are with them. We are grateful for all the first responders and medical teams who have been caring for them.”
Delta’s incident response team deployed to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) Monday evening, including specially trained Delta Care Team representatives who provided support for customers, employees and their loved ones.
Members of Endeavor Air’s leadership team are also on site to provide support and ensure full cooperation with investigators.
Delta and Delta Connection flights have resumed at YYZ, however two Delta flights were operating with larger aircraft to allow for greater arrival and departure capacity on Tuesday. A travel waiver remains in effect on for YYZ customers for travel until 20 February.
