Air Serbia has revealed plans to launch direct flights between Belgrade and Shanghai, marking another step in boosting connectivity between Serbia and China.

Starting on 11 January 2025, the Serbian national carrier will operate twice-weekly flights to Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport.

The new route will see flights depart from Belgrade every Tuesday and Saturday, with return services from Shanghai scheduled for Wednesdays and Sundays. The airline has confirmed that these flights will continue through the summer season, commencing on 30 March 2025, with tickets already available for purchase.

The announcement follows closely on the heels of Air Serbia’s recent introduction of direct services to Guangzhou, which began on 30 September 2024. The addition of Shanghai marks the airline’s third destination in China, following Tianjin in December 2022.

Air Serbia’s expanded route network will offer passengers from eastern China easy connections via Belgrade to a wide range of European cities, including Vienna, Milan, Paris, and Amsterdam.

“On Monday 30 September 2024, we launched scheduled flights between Belgrade and Guangzhou. This is our second destination in the People’s Republic of China, after Tianjin, which was added to our network on 9 December 2022,” said Jiri Marek, CEO of Air Serbia.

“With the introduction of direct flights to Shanghai on 11 January 2025, along with the visa-free regime and the recently signed free trade agreement, we are contributing to the further strengthening of economic relations, business, tourism, and cultural ties between Serbia and China.

“We are confident that our scheduled flights between the capital of Serbia and Shanghai will facilitate faster business and tourism travel, as well as more efficient exchange of goods and services between our two traditionally friendly countries.”
