SAE Enabling Sustainability

Recognizing aviation’s ambitious role to combat climate change, SAE International has met the need for sustainable solutions by facilitating the formation of new steering groups and committees to implement new technologies with the development of standards and recommended practices to support interoperability, technology deployment and certification. 

At the nexus of innovation and safety, SAE is convening a half day workshop to explore electrification, hydrogen and sustainable alternate aviation fuels, and new lightweight materials.

Aviation’s role in combatting climate change is high profile. Many high-level government initiatives have set the bar for the decarbonization of the aviation industry, including:

• EU – Fit for 55-reducing carbon emissions by 55% by 2030
• USA – 100% Sustainable fuel by 2050
• ICAO – Long-term aspiration (LTAG) for zero emissions by 2025.

 
As the aerospace industry evolves to meet these commitments to a sustainable future, significant research activities through industry and government are progressing the development of new technologies including electrified propulsion, hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) lightweight materials and more.

To meet the need for sustainable solutions, SAE International is playing a lead role to facilitate these advancements.
During this workshop, SAE are hosting industry experts who will share thought leadership and their current vision on Sustainable Technologies Digital Transformation to an audience of aerospace ecosystem companies covering topics such as sustainability, innovation, and future flight.
