IndiGo signs damp lease deal for three more Norse 787s

February 28, 2025

Indian low-cost carrier (LCC) IndiGo has announced an expanded partnership with Norse Atlantic Airways, with a damp lease agreement for three additional Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
The aircraft are set to arrive in India in the latter half of 2025 and will serve long-haul routes from the country.
This follows a previous agreement signed on 6 February 2025, which saw IndiGo lease a single Boeing 787-9 from Norse.
The first of these aircraft is scheduled to operate on the airline’s Delhi-Bangkok route from 1 March 2025.
With the latest additions, IndiGo’s total number of damp-leased Boeing 787-9s from Norse Atlantic will rise to four.
The airline continues to explore opportunities to further extend its collaboration with Norse, with discussions ongoing about leasing additional aircraft, the Indian LCC said.
The agreement initially covers a six-month lease period, with an option to extend up to 18 months, subject to regulatory approvals.
IndiGo has been aggressively expanding its global presence, aiming to meet the rising demand for international travel to and from India.
To support its long-haul ambitions, the airline has placed a firm order for 30 Airbus A350-900 wide-body aircraft, with an option to acquire an additional 70. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2027.
Pieter Elbers, CEO, IndiGo, says, “We are delighted to confirm extension of our partnership with Norse Atlantic Airways for damp lease of additional three Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
“This will help us make strategic inroads and establish the brand in the European market. As we execute our broader strategy to strengthen and extend our international network, we are steadily advancing towards our vision of becoming a global player by 2030, firmly rooted in India and driven by continuous expansion.”
