Air India and Kenya Airways have announced a new codeshare partnership, aimed at strengthening travel links between India and Africa.

The agreement enhances their existing interline arrangement, offering passengers improved connectivity and a more streamlined travel experience.

Under the deal, Air India will place its ‘AI’ code on Kenya Airways’ twice-daily Nairobi-Mumbai flights, allowing travellers to connect via Mumbai to destinations including Bangkok, Colombo, Dhaka, Malé, Melbourne, and Singapore.

Meanwhile, Kenya Airways will add its ‘KQ’ code to Air India’s Delhi-Nairobi flights.

The partnership simplifies ticketing and baggage policies, allowing travellers to book multi-leg journeys on a single ticket. The interline agreement further expands connectivity, linking 28 African cities—including Johannesburg, Addis Ababa, and Dar es Salaam—to 15 Indian destinations such as Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

“Deepening our partnership with Kenya Airways aligns perfectly with Air India’s strategic vision of expanding our global footprint and strengthening our position in key markets”, said Nipun Aggarwal, chief commercial officer, Air India.

“Our codeshare partnership will provide significant benefit to guests of both airlines, and also contribute to the overall growth of air travel between India and Africa.”

Julius Thairu, chief commercial and customer officer, Kenya Airways, added: “We are delighted to expand our partnership Air India, that will open up significant opportunity for our passengers.

“This codeshare agreement allows us to offer seamless connections to a wider range of destinations across both airlines’ networks, making travel easier and more convenient.”
