Thousands of people have been transforming the vast site into the world’s largest temporary trade exhibition space; 118 official suppliers will be in attendance, as well as more than 500 unofficial companies and contractors who are taking part.

Eve Air Mobility hit the ground running with the unveiling on Sunday of its first full-scale prototype, dubbed the ‘Eve 100’, which will inform the company’s upcoming flight tests.

The full-scale prototype aircraft features eight propellers for VTOL flight with one pusher propeller at the rear of the aircraft, powered by a total of nine motors, and skids instead of landing gear.

A 15m wingspan will enable the aircraft to operate from existing rotorcraft infrastructure, pending the development of dedicated vertiports.

This year’s FIA will focus on six key themes – space, defence, sustainability, innovation, workforce and future flight. The event also hosts the Global Urban Advanced Air Summit for the first time during show week.

An air and static display is sure to impress, with Virgin Atlantic’s recently delivered A330-900neo – known as “Ruby Rebel” – on display with a special 40th birthday decal design.

And CFM International is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a bespoke 1970s-themed chalet.

The United States Air Force, Navy and Army will have an increased aircraft presence, with the US military showcasing 13 aircraft.

There will also be a UK Government hub for the time, providing a dedicated platform for 10 ministerial departments and agencies to collaborate directly with UK businesses.

With commercial revenues expected to grow 14% this year and the global space market alone expected to be worth $1 trillion dollars by 2030, FIA 2024 promises to be an airshow that lives long in the memory.
