Specialist regional aircraft lessor TrueNoord has completed the sale of the longest owned aircraft in its portfolio, an ATR freighter, which it acquired in 2006.

“This ATR freighter was the oldest and longest owned aircraft in our portfolio,” confirmed TrueNoord Technical manager Stephen Spillane. “During this period, we have transitioned the turboprop to three new operators, clearly illustrating TrueNoord’s ability to successfully manage assets of any age throughout their lifecycle”.

Having reached the end of its technical life, the ATR has been sold to independently owned aviation and technical company NTE Aviation, where it will be torn down for the used serviceable material market. “Due to an existing relationship with NTE, this transaction was closed in a matter of weeks,” explained Maarten Grift, TrueNoord sales manager – Africa, Middle East and CIS.

He added: “This aircraft is a great example of how lessors support the circular economy by reusing aircraft and ultimately recycling their parts. During its lifespan, this asset was moved from one airline to another many times and will now support the ongoing operation of other ATR 72s through being parted out”.
